The coverage question to settle before buying is which territories a plan names. The Palestinian Territories appear as a separate market in most catalogues, so a plan sold for Israel does not necessarily cover the West Bank or Gaza, and a regional Middle East bundle may cover one, both or neither. If your itinerary includes Bethlehem, Jericho or Hebron, read the list explicitly.

Know when the clock starts
Some plans start counting at purchase, some on install, some on first connection at the destination. A seven-day plan bought three days early is a four-day plan if it starts at purchase. Where a provider does not publish the trigger, we mark it unknown rather than guess.

Most phones released since 2019 do. Dial *#06# — if an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, the handset has an eSIM. A carrier-locked phone may still refuse a second profile.
Buy while you still have reliable internet. Whether to install immediately depends on when the plan's clock starts — check the activation trigger on the plan you chose.
The provider emails a QR code. On iOS: Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM. On Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add. Keep the code; some providers let you reinstall with it, others do not.
This is the step people miss. A travel eSIM is technically roaming on a host network, so data roaming must be enabled for that line — and turned off for your home line, unless you want a bill.
