Norway is one of the cheapest markets we track, with a median of 0.74 USD per gigabyte against roughly 1.00 across most of western Europe. It also has the highest 5G share in this group at 57%, and 95% of plans permit hotspot.
Supply is unusually deep for the population — 2,161 plans from 10 providers — because Norway is included in most Europe-wide bundles despite being outside the EU. That is worth checking rather than assuming: a handful of regional plans stop at the EU border and leave Norway out.
Only 19 plans here are unlimited. At these prices a metered plan sized to the trip is almost always the better buy, and the fjord routes where you will lose signal entirely are not solved by more data.

Match the allowance to the trip, not the price
The average plan sold here is 16.6 GB over 28 days. Buying the cheapest plan and topping up twice usually costs more than buying the right size once — check whether the plan supports top-up before relying on it.
Treat "unlimited" as a threshold
66 plans here are sold as unlimited. Almost all mean full speed up to a fair-use threshold and throttling after it. Compare those on price per day; a price per gigabyte for an unlimited plan is a number with no denominator.
Check the network, not the brand
58% of plans here advertise 5G, but the network belongs to a local host operator. The provider table below shows which operators each reseller actually rides — that is what decides coverage once you leave the city.
Know when the clock starts
Some plans start counting at purchase, some on install, some on first connection at the destination. A seven-day plan bought three days early is a four-day plan if it starts at purchase. Where a provider does not publish the trigger, we mark it unknown rather than guess.

How to install
Most phones released since 2019 do. Dial *#06# — if an EID number appears alongside the IMEI, the handset has an eSIM. A carrier-locked phone may still refuse a second profile.
Buy while you still have reliable internet. Whether to install immediately depends on when the plan's clock starts — check the activation trigger on the plan you chose.
The provider emails a QR code. On iOS: Settings → Mobile Service → Add eSIM. On Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add. Keep the code; some providers let you reinstall with it, others do not.
This is the step people miss. A travel eSIM is technically roaming on a host network, so data roaming must be enabled for that line — and turned off for your home line, unless you want a bill.

The default order is a published formula: value percentile, feature completeness, data freshness, provider accuracy, coverage fit, first-party ratings and promo availability. Commission weight is zero, and no payout data reaches the ranking code at all.

Prices are re-read continuously and this page was last recomputed on 27 August 2026. A sync whose numbers move implausibly is rejected rather than published.
